Clinical Depression
Have you reached the point that your loneliness is so excruciating and you think that all the signs pointing to clinical depression are present? Some people use the word depression to denote sadness but in reality clinical depression is much more than this. It is a feeling of emptiness that one cannot function normally because of such condition.
Common manifestations of clinical depression:
- Hopelessness or sadness
- Hostility or unjustified anger
- Recurrent crying
- Isolation
- Lack of interest in activities enjoyed before
- Changes in eating and sleeping pattern
- Agitation
- Feelings of unimportance and guiltiness
- Lack of fervor and drive
- Low energy or exhaustion
- Poor concentration
- Thoughts about suicide or self harm
A remarkable change in sleeping patterns can often be observed in a person with depression. Some people complain of inability to sleep no matter how tired they are. While some depressed individuals oversleep. The changes in behavior are remarkable.
If our desire to socialise with people is lost it should be a warning sign that something might be wrong. Even if you face disappointments everyday still you should not be discouraged in sharing your thoughts and experiences with other people. The presence of friends and family will always give us the encouragement to go on in life no matter how rough the road gets. Clinical depression is something you can get over. It may not be easy but it is very possible.
